Brace yourselves… I love Christmas.

Yes, a Satanist loves Christmas. You may naturally ask if I like the pagan-Christian religious reasons for the holiday, and I would say, don’t be a dipshit—of course not.

I love Christmas because we are usually housebound together as a family. A family that I have both chosen and created. We play board games and snack on cookies as we sip on hot chocolate, mine has a little whiskey for taste. Afterward we will often watch a holiday movie together before the kids brush their teeth and go to sleep.

My wife and I cuddle on the loveseat under blankets with the lights off, Christmas with the The Rat Pack plays in the background as we stare outside at the neighborhood lights with our tree’s twinkling lights in our peripheral view. I may explore her curves a bit while we playfully kiss and talk. Then, well…

For me, Christmas is a time of indulgence and celebration of my family. Christmas is a Satanic expression of those whom I have given my love and affection. With everything in Satanism, I have taken the parts of this holiday I appreciate and resonate with and discarded the rest. It is irrelevant to me if anyone else knows my interpretation or is solipsistic enough to believe it means the same to me that it does to them. I do not have any desire to live up to others’ interpretations.

But let’s’ go back to the movie. What’s your favorite holiday movie? I am torn between Die Hard and National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.
