Letters from the Devil Cover
  • Letters From the Devil – April 18, 1971
    • Richard L is asking questions about Satanic ritual and comparing it to Catholic Mass.
    • Anton LaVey responds
      • Incense cannot replace outlined implements needed for a Satanic Ritual from The Satanic Bible, but it could be used in conjunction.
      • Dress in the ritual chamber can be a formal black suit with a white shirt, but with a cape to allow you to drape yourself in darkness.
      • Timing of a ritual should be whenever the recipient will be at their most passive of states. Not necessarily at night.
      • On candles of mixed color, what is important is your emotional state and awareness, not the candles interior color.
      • Titles like Witch or Warlock are loosely applied to practitioners of magic, but there is a hierarchical system where the name applies officially as well.
      • Black Masses which blaspheme worn-out ridiculous set of principles would become tiresome and in violent opposition to the very positive principles of Satanism! Satanic masses celebrate our principles.

  • Biden marking ‘Bloody Sunday’ by signing voting rights order
    • https://apnews.com/article/joe-biden-alabama-selma-voting-rights-elections-eec9cde9f9713183b6c8d1d7123cbbae
    • A new executive order from President Joe Biden directs federal agencies to take a series of steps to promote voting access, a move that comes as congressional Democrats press for a sweeping voting and elections bill to counter efforts to restrict voting access.
    • His plan was being announced during a recorded address on the 56th commemoration of “Bloody Sunday,” the 1965 incident in which some 600 civil rights activists were viciously beaten by state troopers as they tried to march for voting rights in Selma, Alabama.
    • “Every eligible voter should be able to vote and have it counted,” Biden says in his prepared remarks to Sunday’s Martin and Coretta King Unity Breakfast. “If you have the best ideas, you have nothing to hide. Let the people vote.”
    • Biden’s order includes several modest provisions. It directs federal agencies to expand access to voter registration and election information, calls on the heads of federal agencies to come up with plans to give federal employees time off to vote or volunteer as nonpartisan poll workers, and proscribes an overhaul of the government’s Vote.gov website.
    • Democrats are attempting to solidify support for House Resolution 1, which touches on virtually every aspect of the electoral process. It was approved Wednesday on a near party-line vote, 220-210.
    • The voting rights bill includes provisions to restrict partisan gerrymandering of congressional districts, strike down hurdles to voting and bring transparency to a murky campaign finance system that allows wealthy donors to anonymously bankroll political causes.
    • Democrats say the bill will help stifle voter suppression attempts, while Republicans have cast the bill as unwanted federal interference in states’ authority to conduct their own elections.
    • The bill’s fate is far from certain in the closely divided Senate. Conservative groups have undertaken $5 million campaign to try persuade moderate Senate Democrats to oppose rule changes needed to pass the measure.
    • With his executive order, Biden is looking to turn the spotlight on the issue and is using the somber commemoration of Bloody Sunday to make the case that much is at stake.
    • Bloody Sunday proved to be a conscious-shocking turning point in the civil rights movement that led to passage of the Voting Rights Act of 1965. Similarly, Biden is hoping the Jan. 6 sacking of the U.S. Capitol by a pro-Donald Trump mob will prove to be a clarion call for Congress to take action to improve voter protections.
    • “In 2020 — with our very democracy on the line — even in the midst of a pandemic – more Americans voted than ever before,” Biden says in his prepared remarks. “Yet instead of celebrating this powerful demonstration of voting — we saw an unprecedented insurrection on our Capitol and a brutal attack on our democracy on January 6th. A never-before-seen effort to ignore, undermine and undo the will of the people.”
    • Biden’s remarks also pay tribute to the late civil rights giants Rev. C.T. Vivian, Rev. Joseph Lowery and Rep. John Lewis. All played critical roles in the 1965 organizing efforts in Selma and all died in within the past year.
  • Idaho protesters burn masks at state Capitol rally
    • https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/idaho-protesters-burn-masks-state-capitol-rally-n1259847
    • About 100 demonstrators burned masks outside Idaho’s Capitol in Boise on Saturday as a statement against pandemic restrictions, according to authorities and people who tweeted from the scene.
    • No one was arrested, and organizers had permits, but the rally was under review because a fire was started, Idaho State Police said in a statement.
    • “During the event, an open flame was ignited in a barrel,” police said. “Those involved with the event were informed both before and during the event that open flames are not allowed on State Capitol grounds.”
    • Video and photos showed children present and even participating.
    • A point person for the rally, conservative activist Darr Moon, the husband of Republican state Rep. Dorothy Moon, said it was one of multiple Burn the Mask rallies across the state Saturday organized by several groups. He posted photos on Facebook of a similar event in Rexburg.
    • Moon said because the state is mostly rural it has had low Covid-19 infection numbers, and masks and other pandemic restrictions aren’t always needed.
    • “Certain health districts are mandating or certain towns are mandating wearing masks and we just don’t have the numbers here,” he said. “The Covid numbers are very low. We’ve flattened the curve a long time ago and people want to go back to work, they want to have a normal life.”
    • According to the Johns Hopkins University Coronavirus Resource Center about 1 in 4 people who’ve tested for the virus in the past week in Idaho have turned up positive. That’s down from the state’s all time high the week of Dec. 6, when two-thirds of those tested were positive.
    • The state has recorded 1,876 pandemic deaths, according to NBC News’ tally.
    • The state “strongly recommends” masks, but they are not mandated, although some cities and counties require them. Both indoor and outdoor gatherings are limited to 50 or fewer people. Tables in bars and restaurants must be at least six feet apart, and all patrons have to stay seated.
    • Republican Gov. Brad Little tweeted Thursday, “Keep practicing the things we know work. Wear your mask. Wash your hands. Stay home if you’re sick.”
    • On Tuesday Idaho’s House State Affairs Committee opened the way for debate on a bill that would prohibit mask mandates by government entities.
    • “We’re not against face masks,” Moon said. “You know, some people might need to protect themselves. There are certain portions of the population that are elderly … they have issues. For healthy-bodied people, we want to go back to work.
    • “Our livelihoods have been put in jeopardy because of all the executive orders and mandates.”
