1. The Supernormal – PSI is Real
1. To start perhaps we should discuss the term pseudoscience and why it is ignored, refuted or mocked by mainstream scientists, or scientific and atheist cheerleaders?
2. Our discussion will revolve primarily around the topic of PSI and it’s implications with Greater Magic, but before we get into it, can you define PSI?
3. Why do you think PSI research is not taken seriously despite numerous productive studies?
4. How do you think the knowledge of PSI: Telepathy, Pyrokinesis or Clairvoyance can aid the magician?
2. Belief and Disbelief – Perceiving psi events and developing as a magician.
1. Can you explain selective awareness in relation to PSI research?
2. Do you think the concept of selective awareness is a handicap to emerging or experimental magicians in Satanism?
3. What would you suggest musicians do that want to practice ritual and see their will done, but who may be caught up in selective awareness, to overcome it?
4. If we are truly at the mercy of our mind and its trained belief state, does this shut out many potential magicians simply because of the social culture that they were raised in?
3. Mental Phenomena and Mysticism – Distinguishing between them.
1. For universal understanding, at least in the context of our discussion, can you define mysticism?
2. What do you think is the genesis for someone to fall into mysticism or spiritual thinking?
3. Why do you think PSI is associated with Mysticism?
4. Is it possible to separate the association, and does its false link matter to the magician?
4. How This helps you as a Magician
Quote from The Satanic Bible:
“The change in situations or events in accordance with one’s will, which would, using normally accepted methods, be unchangeable.” p.110 The Theory and Practice of Satanic Magic (Definition and Purpose)
Excerpt from The Eleven Rules of the Earth:
“Acknowledge the power of magic if you have employed it successfully to obtain your desires. If you deny the power of magic after having called upon it with success, you will lose all you have obtained.” 7th Rule
1. Wrapping this up, can we definitively say that PSI is real, and that its awareness or acceptance would actually help a magician in his or her working, or does this knowledge simply help in the opening of possibilities to the magicians mind?
2. Discussions like this open up ones mind to endless possibilities, encouraging the practical testing of ones hypotheses and experimentation through ritual. Do you think ritual is an integral part of being a Satanist?
3. Do you have any closing comments for the audience about PSI or ritual as a Satanist and magician?
4. Where can the audience go to learn more about you? (website, book, etc)
Audience Questions
1. As mentioned in Magister Nemo’s essay regarding Satanic atheism, the precepts of materialism, as accepted by Satanic doctrine, DO allow for the possibility of certain incarnations of what layfolk would refer to as “ghosts” and such, rejecting only that such things would occur on a “spiritual” or “supernatural” level. One such alternative was recently introduced to me in the form of multiple dimensions, similar to the three in which we know we function, plus time, in which we might actually exist, but most do not either know about it or understand how to access it properly, analogous to the way in which those of lower intelligence are incapable of exercising the same intellect as those with higher intelligence.
The concept of Greater magic, as I understand it, is theoretically an extension of oneself. One’s Will, so to speak. In your estimations, does the part of “you” conducting magic in the Greater sense come from something similar to what is described above, something along the lines of what Magus Gilmore hinted at in The Satanic Scriptures regarding the research of Rupert Sheldrake, both, or something else entirely?
2. In my course of studies, I have explored many different rituals and practices from various religions and belief systems. For the most part, I can see how these were simply fantasy and pageantry resulting in catharsis, just as LaVey taught in TSB. However, there was one instance that stands out in my mind that I am unable to explain, and would like to run it past you and ask your perspective on it as a Satanist.
A few years back, a friend and I participated in a ritual with a practicing Wiccan. The ritual involved some chanting, and lighting of candles, etc. At one point, he assigned each of us a candle and part of the ritual was for the person conducting the ritual to blow out each person’s candle. I was open to seeing what it was all about, but my friend who was with me was a strict atheist and thought it was all bullshit. When it came time for his candle to be blown out, he in his love-able smartass way said, “I am god and I say you are not going to be able to blow out my candle”.
The person conducting the ritual ignored him and went to blow out the candle, but it would not go out. He blew harder to the point that the flame flickered and bent completely over and shook the candle trying to get the candle to go out. At one point, he dropped the candle and it rolled a few feet, but the flame stayed lit. My friend, well pleased with this little game of his, then said, “OK, you can blow it out now”. And immediately the candle could be blown out with no problem.
I do not believe in angels, demons, spirits, devils, god, etc. I try to take a logical approach to matters of religion and philosophy and think critically about things I encounter. This is of the reasons why Satanism resonates with me. However, this one instance is difficult for me to understand or explain. This part of the ritual did not have anything to do with pageantry or fantasy, it actually happened. As a Satanist, have you ever encountered or experienced something that can not be easily explained during a ritual?
Also, does Satanism accept the possibility of the paranormal?
3. Many spells are performed with a “one and done” mentality, where you don’t think about the spell after its performed and certainly don’t dwell on its results. Do you have any recommendations for a ritual that could be performed repeatedly as needed as a sort of magical strength-training? Group rituals can serve this purpose but I’m looking for something that could be performed solo and repeatedly that would gain strength with repeated performances.
4. Rarely do I have sufficient privacy at night to ritualize, so almost all rituals are performed in full daylight on days when I have the house to myself. My altar’s in the bedroom, so permanent light and sound proofing aren’t an option, and temporary measures take away from the visual aesthetics of the room.
For destruction rituals, it’s worth losing a bit of visual aesthetics to create a more complete atmosphere. For compassion rituals, I don’t bother – sunlight and birds chirping don’t prevent my getting emotional charged.
So the question is, are there any techniques that you know of that might work especially well in sunlight, whether indoors or out.
5. How can Greater Satanic Magic best be utilized to actualize one’s potential?
6. Do you have any plans for future book releases? If so, what and when can we expect it/them?
