Blackhouse Blues - I Don't Want Your Soul - Satan's Blues

I Don’t Want Your Soul

I was always fascinated by the prayer scene in Glory. The crying out of emotion and hopes made me think of the Devil addressing all those poor whelps asking him for help. There was an interesting idea of Satan not accepting just anyone’s soul, being more discerning. I wrote this but it was never fully developed. This was performed by Reverend Campbell.

I Don’t Want Your Soul
Lyrics

I’m sitin’ down in hell
I hear infernal bells
someone’s standin’ up there
fixin dialin hell

I wanna sell my soul
Devil you gotta see
I wanna have this woman
want her to take care of me

i dont want your soul
you a poor wretch of a man
ol girl dont want cha
face like a fryin pan

I dont want your soul
y’all listen right here
you aint gonna have her – cause you cant keep her – you troll faced ol’ man

feel the warmth of the flames
runnin cross my skin
hear the cries of a man
echoin down  here

I wanna sell my soul
devil you gotta help me
c’mon an make me wealthy
give me stocks an’ money

I dont want your soul
you aint work for a day
you don’t work your mojo
so you aint getin no pay

I dont want your soul
y’all listen right here
ain’t gonna get paid  – cause you aint workin –  for even a day

I wanna sell my soul

I dont want your soul

I wanna sell my soul

listen here fool, i don’t want your soul
