2007–Saturday, October 12th, 2024
Our beloved Shih Tzu, Minnie (the Moocher) was put down on Saturday, October 12th at 1:54 pm. She lived seventeen (17) human years. Her body was wracked by cancerous tumors and she suffered from frequent and sporadic seizures. We couldn’t watch her go on in constant pain any longer, even though we know she would’ve fought until an unbearable and bitter end. She is survived by her sister Freya and the Campbell family who all loved her dearly.
Minnie was rescued by my wife on October 24th, 2011. Her previous owners abused her, and it took most of her life to get her to trust us and strangers. She truly came alive when we would take her on our many hiking and camping trips. She loved being in and exploring the outdoors, and every other hiker we crossed was amazed that she was able to keep up with us. In her prime, she was a wonderful hiking partner. She would listen to your commands, and loved running ahead, trying to keep up with our son or Freya. I would frequently take her on hikes that many human adults had difficulty with and she never gave up.
Minnie will be remembered for the loving lap dog she was, but more so for the adventurous spirit she embodied. We love you Minnie. You are missed.
