Firstly, I’d like to say I’ve been listening to your podcast for about a year, and I’m a huge fan. In your Greater Magic episode, Magus Gilmore mentioned how rehearsing a ritual beforehand would help one remain focused on the emotions being felt, and less on the nuts and bolts of the ritual itself. It seems, though, that my problem is when I even decide to write out specifically what I plan on saying, I become so immersed in the words that when the time comes to perform the ritual, it’s lost it’s sense of emotion. I recall in ‘The Devils Notebook’, Dr. Lavey mentions how setting aside music for the ritual chamber ensures that it retains it’s sense of emotional response, which I would imagine could apply to all ritual components. So my question is this: how would you recommend I remain emotionally detached while preparing the “script” for my ritual, or would it be better to treat the writing of the ritual as the ritual itself? Any feedback or response to my question would be welcomed with great appreciation. Again, your podcast is amazing, and all your contributors bring something truly awesome to the each episode that all of us free thinkers can really appreciate. - William Colmer <wcolmer2@gmail.com> via email: I am a Satanist in rural ohio, but in ritual I practice Asatru/Odinism. I practice this with a group of friends and only do it for the fun of it and hanging out with friends, they, of course, do not know this. I ,outside of that circle and away from my wife, refer to myself as a “LaVeyan Heathen” in jest but also as an explanation. How do you feel about this in the sense of the greater Satanic community. LaVey once said the two paired very well and I believe they have similar qualities. Does this make one less of a Satanist? This is mostly academic, as I have read The Satanic Bible/statements/sins/rules of earth I’m not truly deceiving myself just playing at it so it wouldn’t, I’m just looking for a second opinion. Thanks in advance for any input
