I constantly read Lavey’s books and I’m pretty sure I understand the bigger picture for those 2 rules, but I thought I’d write this letter to see what you guys think. When Lavey says “Do not give opinions or advice unless you are asked,” I’m pretty sure he’s referring to the way Christians are always throwing their dumb/careless opinions and advice out on strangers, and not referring to defending yourself when your friends, family, co-workers, government, and businesses are taking advantage of you. Also, when he says “Do not tell your troubles to others unless you are sure they want to hear them,” he’s referring to how Christians are always harping about their problems and asking for prayer, and not referring to not strongly expressing yourself to someone who NEEDS to hear your problem because that’s the only way it’s going to get resolved.
Am I right in these understandings? Do you have any other thoughts to add to them?
