Listener Questions:

1. Before I was a Satanist, I delved into the practices of Neo-Paganism etc… I used to write and conduct group rituals and modify other rituals for solitary practice, to a practical degree of success, at least in my own peer groups at the time.
   Since I’ve been a Satanist, I have attempted to conduct The Ceremony of the Nine Angles within a group context, and that was a…huge failure. Mostly due to my participants not having a clue as to what the fuck they were doing, and my assumption that they did.
   Since then, I’ve been primarily a solitary practitioner, mainly conducting one of the three rituals portrayed in the Satanic Bible. I have, however, performed Le Messes Noir as a Solitary rite, as well as a Satanic Baptismal when I received my member ship card. Lately, I’ve been wanting to conduct more of the Rituals in The Satanic Rituals, and have been able to at least conceptualize the ideas and ceremony behind those rituals into a workable solitary rite, all of them except Le’Air Epais , the rite of stifling air. Now, my question is, “How would you suggest I modify that for solitary practice?”
   
2. I am a recent convert to the idea of the “intellectual decompression chamber”, an idea I struggled with – until I listened to your prior Greater Magic episodes. I want to thank you for helping me get past the mental block that kept me from wanting to try Greater Magic.
   My question is: What ceremony or ceremonies would suggest for a loving couple, or what inspirations would suggest to draw from, in creating a new ritual for two.
   More specifically, I understand the Ragnarok represents ‘out with the old, and in the new’, and I think this is very much in keeping with what we want to achieve.
   We are novice, yet eager. We have read The Satanic Bible, Compleat (Satanic) Witch, Satanic Verses, Satanic Scriptures, and look forward to reading further.
   
3. There is a ritual I’m looking to do in an emotionally charged public space.  The area has a very Lovecraftian feel to it.  Access is legal and all the elements I’m looking to bring to it are legal.  To go there after dark is legal.  The problem is traffic – the area gets a lot of automobile traffic day and night.  I can use an ipod and headphones to drawn out noise, but not headlights.  Am I better off to use the site in daylight when traffic is less noticeable and distracting or at night when my emotions are more free even if the visual distractions increase?  Is this a lost cause, or do you have any tips for performing a very emotionally charged ritual in a public settings?
   
4. Am I better off to leave out Enochian Keys in personalized rituals if I don’t understand them?  If I don’t know what is being referred to by angles or pillars, does it add to or take away from the ritual to mask this confusion with Enochian chanting like some priest of old turning his back on the congregation to enchant with Latin phrases?  Can it help to not know what it all means, or should newbies leave out the keys?
   
5. Like an author developing characters to one day appear in a novel, I have been developing characters all my life in my head.  Some are fully formed – age, weight, favorite foods, childhood traumas, talents, etc.  I call upon them in ritual but they do not easily fit into the domains of earth, air, fire and water. These “god characters” weren’t originally conceived of as antagonists and don’t readily fit in with the supernaturality of the rest of the infernal names.  If one of my god characters is not a Satanist, but he does bring about an emotional charge, what’s the best way to build a ritual around him?
