Asura

This year marks one decade of purposeful achievement. Living in a small town of the mediocre, their merit was based on how many people they knew that had businesses composed of pressure washing services and some mix of real estate dreams gained from an infomercial. Mastery was a taboo. Not having children was a taboo. Education was a taboo. Carnal indulgence, of all proclivities, was relegated to dark parking lots of truck stops and, of all places, retirement communities. The same proud Christians reveling in their hard earned guilt over classifieds browsing, pornography, and any-port-in-a-storm partners in parking lots with broken street lamps spent Sundays celebrating homophobic, “pro-life”, and deviant-of-the-week gossip.

Ten years ago I left those particular animals. I now have a decade long career in my chosen field, quadrupling my own income, with the opportunity to lead a vital existence fortified with nearby institutions of education, art, science, and technology all filled with more educated, attractive, and pragmatic individuals.
