We all know the type. They have no life outside their religion. They have no friends outside their religion. If there was no religion, they would be nothing.There is a danger with any fanatic in a religion, it can overtake who you are. Satanism is no different.
It can be a challenge for some, as Satanism is more about the development of self than other religions. Rather than aspiring to a single being’s characteristics, you are encouraged to develop your own. Be yourself. But if this is true, why are there so many LaVey clones? Why are there so many Satanists who are nothing but the religion? The truth is, this is the minority. You don’t hear about the actual Satanists living their lives, because they are living their lives and don’t have time to tell you about it. They are not concerned with your awareness of them, and they are not trying to toot their own Satanic horn (must be flexible).
I want you to think about this for a moment. How many people do you know that sell Satanic products, create Satanic content, and/or collect Satanic friends exclusively? Everything about them from their personal aesthetics to personal projects is nothing but Satanism… How many can you actually think of? Not many right? Now imagine stripping Satanism away from them. What are you left with? What are they actually doing with their lives? How are they actually USING Satanism to be a better version of themselves in the real world?
Now I want you to look in the mirror. Strip away Satanism and be honest with yourself. What is left? What are your hobbies? What are you passionate about? Does Satanism inform them in any way, or is it something you like because you like it? Where are you in your profession? How are your personal relationships? Are they informed by Satanism is any way? How can you achieve more success? How can you deepen those relationships?
If you are honest with yourself, you will come to see that Satanism is just a small part of who you are, and though it can inform other aspects of your life, you should not allow it to dominate your life. Because when you do, you are not BEING a Satanist, you are not USING Satanism. And that is the point of Satanism!
There is a beautiful irony in this idea. The less you wrap yourself in Satanism, the more Satanic you actually are.
