Cast Backstory

You are all friends from high school. You used to hang out daily, party and get into mischief together. You stayed in contact and every year you would get together and do some new activity over a weekend (travel, camp, etc.). Last year Jen’s mother passed away, and she skipped the get together. No one could make it to her funeral, and Jen’s been taking it pretty hard. You all planned to go camping this year to get Jen out of her head, dragging her up into the Rocky Mountains.

Game Setup

Hello, I am the director of this episode. Our cast members Steel, Jen, and Liam have connected with a rebellion in Kandar led by Enkidu. Upon suggestion, they traveled to the witch Khulanna, who blessed them with a ritual of Inanan, sister of the evil goddess Ereskigal. Khandar has been overrun by deadites as the watcher has convinced the high priest of Ereskegal to create the Necronomicon, with the ultimate goal of ending humanity and allowing demons to walk the earth. Now, as they approach the Temple of Ereskegal in Khandar to stop the Priest, they are confronted with the former chosen one, Chet, that dragged them all into this in the first place, as Enkidu and the rebels went after the survivors to help the heroes stop Evil Chet, the High Priest of Ereskegal, and the Watcher. Can the cast please introduce themselves?

Episode setup: You stand at the base of the Temple of Ereskigal. Above you is a grand vortex casting a shadow over all of Khandar. At the top of this massive ziggurat stands Evil Chet, the former chosen one, turned deadite, holding Enkidu’s daughter Shemhasa hostage. The chanting of the priests above echoes into the city as flying deadites circle above you, and the smell of dead and rotting flesh permeates the air. The ritual of Inanan that the witch Khulanna cast for you has kept them at bay, but how long will the goddesses power last? You know that Enkidu has left to gather as many of the captured rebels as possible, setting up a massive battle between humanity and the dead. Evil Chet looks down from the pinnacle of the temple, and smiles as he beckons you forward. Through the din of screams and chanting echoing out from the temple, you only hear three words escape his lips: Come get some!

Supporting Cast

  • Enkidu
  • Enkidu’s Rebels
  • Shamhasa

Story Beats

Act One – Stop Evil Chet

  • The heroes rush up to combat Evil Chet as flying deadites, and skeletons attack.
  • Evil Chet tells them that the Watcher has enlisted the demon Beletseri to protect the High Priest Urigan while he completes writing the Necronomicon. Even if they do defeat him, they will never stop Urigan and return home.
  • Shemhasa is held by two Skeletons away from the party on the top of the temple.

Act Two – War with the Dead

  • As the barrier protecting them falters, they see Enkidu rush out of the base of the temple with the prisoners and his rebels ready for battle.
  • Mass combat plays out, and when one side is near defeat Enkidu will tell the heroes to go inside the temple and deal with Urigan, the High Priest.

Act Three – Down with Urigan and Beletseri

  • As the heroes rush into the ritual chamber they find the walls lined with corpses hung to drain their blood into a bowl for penning the Necronomicon. Urigan is hovering over the tomb busy at work, with a supernatural focus. The heroes see a dark shadow whispering unintelligibly to him as he writes.
  • The demon Beletseri walks into view to stop the heroes. She taunts them with immortal torture in hell as demons possess their bodies.
  • Occasionally a new cultist will step in to distract a hero.
  • Once the Demon is defeated, the heroes must stop Urigan somehow. If they pull him from his work, he will come to his senses and declare Ereskegal was telling him what to do, when really it was the Watcher. They can either capture or kill him, but he will not attack them, as he must finish the book.
  • When the heroes have control of the book, and have subdued Urigan, Enkidu and Shemhasa will offer to read the Necronomicon and conduct the ritual to send them back to their time.

About Army of Darkness Roleplaying Game

Alright, you primitive screwheads, listen up!

You’re in a strange land, with strange people, and you’re not thinking too clearly. The natives are suspicious, the leaders hostile, the priests cryptic, and no one’s bathed in months. Advanced tech is a hole in the ground filled with sewage. The basic food groups are roasted haunch, moldy bread, and watered-down wine.

Getting home ain’t going to happen anytime soon. First you need to find some stupid book, then recite some stupid phrase, then bring the stupid book back to the stupid castle. Heck, there’s probably a bunch of other stupid stuff you have to do. Just nobody’s told you about that yet.

Oh, and then there’s the army of undead just over the hill looking to gnaw on your soul!

Ash: That’s it. Go ahead and run. Run home and cry to mama. Me! I’m through runnin’. I say we stay here and fight it out!
Arthur: Are all men from the future loudmouth braggarts?
Ash: Nope. Just me baby . . . just me.
