I hear an awful lot from audience members about how they love the show, but hate my liberal perspectives. Then in the next comment I am told that I champion fascism. When it comes to my political views, I am often painted into a corner by others while refusing to join any team. So I would like to once again walk through my deeply held social and political beliefs and let you, the audience tell me where I stand. It seems much more important to others to quantify it, so allow me to indulge you.
Equal Rights Under the Law
In the United States of America all citizens are supposed to have equality of opportunity and representation. This is not the reality, but it is a promise most citizens strive to achieve. In my perspective, I do not think everyone should have equal rights under the law. There should be different classes:
- Residents – There should be a blanket class of citizen called resident. These are human beings that live in a given region or territory. They are not granted full access or representation as they have yet to contribute to the society. They may be sponsored by a citizen, (children for an example) but their rights, granted by the ‘state’, are transferred through the sponsor. The responsibility for their actions in society is also transferred.
- Citizens – This is a class that is actively contributing to society or has served in the past through the military or other social organizations to benefit the larger society. They are the only class with full rights.
- Representatives – Representatives lose their individual rights for the duration of their service and serve at the will of their constituents. They will suffer judgement by their constituents and only act in accordance with the majority of their constituents will.
Licencing
All citizens must be licensed to engage with the society. Licences will be issued for the following, and without the license, you will be subject to criminal prosecution if engaging in the activity. This is because each of these activities affect everyone in the society, not just the individual. Only citizens and representatives are allowed these options.
- Marriage – Anyone citizen who wants to marry other citizens must take a relationship course and obtain a licence.
- Parenting – If you want children, you must take a parenting course and obtain a license for every child.
- Weapons of any kind, including combat sports – You must take classes on safety, handling and storage of weapons, or proper combat techniques. This is mandatory for all citizens. You must be licensed to own any weapon or operate in any combat sport.
- Vehicle use – All vehicle use will require training and certification.
Recreational Drugs
All recreational drugs are legal for citizens. There are societal rehabilitation programs available to all citizens as well.
Imprisonment
There are no prisons. You are either executed for your crime, or sent into public service until your debt has been paid to society, or sent to a treatment facility when appropriate.
Healthcare
Healthcare is paid for by citizens for use by all sponsored residents, citizens and representatives.
Education
All sponsored residents, citizens and representatives are required to complete at least 2 years of higher education after grade school. This may be completed before or after public service.
Public Service
All citizens must complete no less than 4 years of public service in education, healthcare, or national defense.
In closing, I am a law-abiding citizen (for the most part) who believes in the ideals of the society I live in. Equal representation and opportunity under the law. If you want to cheat the society at the expense of the society I will speak out against you and your actions. If you wish to engage in actions that effect no other member of the society, it’s none of my god damned business. When you see me railing against criminals and failures in the society, it is because they are actively wounding the society that I am a part of, which directly affects me. There is nothing more Satanic than that: Standing up for yourself and your own self interests.
If you want to champion criminals and failures who harm you, that is your right and reveals your deep-rooted stupidity, but don’t lash out at me for refusing to ride the short bus with you.
